A loan of $250 helped to access high quality inputs such as fertilizer and improved seed that will double his yield and income.

Samaila's story

Samalia is a 45-year-old husband and father of four. He is a hard working farmer and as a Babban Gona member he is excited about the opportunity to finally have access to credit, good markets and a trained agronomist. Like all Babban Gona members, Samalia has the opportunity to double his income and yield this season; he can expect to earn $1,350/ha, twice the average Nigerian farmer’s yearly income. With this increase in earnings, Samalia looks forward to educating his children whom he considers his pride and joy. His most recent loan from Babban Gona provided him with enough fertilizer to optimize his yields and access to a product that eliminates a food toxin in his maize, enabling his family to eat healthier maize and for him to get a premium price for the maize he sells.
