A loan of $2,700 helped a member to purchase costume jewelry.

Gotitas De Chocolate Group's story

The Gotitas de Chocolate community bank will start their first loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Santiago II regional center. The group has eight members and is led by an executive board of which Zulema is the president. The businesses that the members have are varied and include vegetable sales, a neighborhood store, braiding blankets, fruit sales, and sales of costume jewelry.

Zulema is one of the female small-business owners who will benefit from this loan. She joined Pro Mujer a year ago at the invitation of one of her friends in the group. Currently she has a business selling costume jewelry. She says she learned this business with the help of her parents, who gave her the capital to start the business and help her take care of her family.

She is requesting this loan to increase her capital and purchase costume jewelry from wholesale vendors in the city of El Alto. She will sell it at her sales location. This type of work allows her to generate resources to support her household since she has a common-law marriage and has three children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says she likes the health area.
