A loan of $3,600 helped a member to buy alcohol.

Vicuñitas Group's story

Vicuñitas is starting its 5th cycle in Pro Mujer, as part of the focus group of Villa Tejada. It is made up of 8 members and is directed by a board in which Basilia is the president. The businesses that the members in the association help to get ahead are varied: alcohol sales, food sales, backpack and shoe sales, cosmetics sales and a neighborhood store.

The loan they took out benefited small businesses where Basilia is a member. She says she joined Pro Mujer 10 years and 8 months ago when her daughter, who is a member, invited her. Currently she has a business in which she sells alcohol. She decided to run this business after observing that it is a product that is consumed at all times of the year.

The loan they are taking out now is for increasing capital (buying alcohol) that she will acquire from city markets in the city of El Alto and later sell in her store. This work allows her to generate resources that make it possible to maintain her home. She lives with her partner and three children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that she likes the focus on health.
