Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $375 helped to buy organic manure.

Alicia's story

Alicia, 43, is an unassuming woman. She lives in the company of her three children who she cares for with much love in the house she inherited from her parents.

Alicia’s main economic activity is growing vegetables and produce in addition to potatoes because the farmland she owns is apt for this type of crop. The fast-flowing river that passes by her land helps her improve the quality of her food because she has a constant source of water.

Now, she’d like to increase her income because she wants to buy farmland and grow larger amounts and will use income from her cattle business to do so since she also earns good income this way.

This is her first Kiva loan and she’s grateful for the economic support received and promises to make her payments punctually. Alicia will use the 1,000 soles to buy organic manure to nourish her crops.
