Saroen, 36, lives with his wife and two children in a village of Kampong Cham province’s Ponhea Krek district in Cambodia. To make a living, he and his wife have been farming rice and growing cassava and rubber for six years. The current business earns his family about 60,000 KHR (Cambodian riels) per day to meet the family’s needs.
Saroen just started with VisionFund this loan cycle. Now, he is requesting a loan of 4,000,000 KHR to buy fertilizers for his farmland. With this loan, he hopes to increase his family’s income so as to make living better.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
