A loan of $150 helped a member to build a decent latrine.

Kim's Group's story

Kim, a villager from Kandal province, is 53 years old and married. She has six children, two of whom are still in school and dependent upon her. Her main source of income is from a rice growing business, as well as from her husband who is a fisherman in the local area. She has been involved in her current business for 33 years. Kim has been with VisionFund Cambodia (Kiva’s partner) for three cycles and has fully repaid her prior loans with success. The past loans have enabled her to improve her living condition by purchasing decent food and clothing, and allowed her to keep her children in school. For this cycle, she joins a group of three with the same loan amount request. As the leader, she will spend her loan portion to build a below the ground latrine for her family, which will improve sanitation for her children and help to prevent any diseases caused by poor sanitation.
