Harm Deen's story

This is Harm from Tombo Western rural area in Sierra Leone. He is 40 years old. He is married with three children between the ages of 7 years and 18 years. Two of his children are going to school. He began this business because he wanted to create a permanent source of income to take care of his family. Harm runs a general store business. He sells drinks, cigarettes, biscuits and soap, etc. He has been running this business since after the rebel war. He works at the business every day, 12 hours per day. He says that the main challenge to his business is the high rate of theft within the community. Harm has requested a loan in order to purchase items such as drinks, cigarettes, Pure Water and mayonnaise. The extra income from this loan will allow him to pay his children's school fees and buy a plot of land. In the future, he plans to become a agent of provision and cigarette seller.
