A loan of $3,475 helped a member to buy supplies.

Nuevos Senderos (Cuenca) Group's story

The Nuevos Senderos credit group is made up of 11 women who live in the area around the city of Cuenca. The city is renowned for its beautiful streets, green fields and colonial architecture. Its cuisine is varied and enjoyed by locals and foreigners alike. All of the members are friendly and helpful and they all strive for a better economic stability for their homes and families so they can make progress in life.

Paztora has been one of the members of the Nuevos Senderos group for a few years. She lives in the centre of the city of Cuenca and she likes the credit group because it is supportive. She is 57 years old and is a widow. She has 4 adult children from her marriage who are working and help her out financially. She does not have her own house so lives in a rented place.

Paztora has been earning a living for the last 25 years selling coffee, fruit juices, fruit salads and other products. She sells her products at a market in the city, working from one Sunday to the next without a fixed timetable.

She will use the loan to buy supplies for preparing her products and so keep her business going.

Her goal is to expand her business, offer more products and eventually have her own stall for her sales.

In this group: Marcia Lucia, Etelvina Rosario, Elvia Margarita, María Beatriz, María Paztora, Daysi Mariana*, Blanca Josefina, Manuela Del Rocio, María Del Carmen, Martha Cecilia, Gladys Marcela
