Las Estrellas Group's story

"Las Estrellas" (The Stars) is a group consisting of 9 happy and enterprising people who are located in a community named Arroyo which is characterized by being the only community for several kilometers that has a high school. The primary activity is planting and growing sugar cane.

Doña Avelina is 57 years old, she completed elementary school, is married to Bonifacio who is a farmer. Doña Avelina says that over 30 years ago she opened a small grocery store and over the years she invested more into it and expanded with to include some office supplies. Her store is one of the largest and well-stocked in the community. In addition to having groceries she sells chicken from her home Monday through Sunday with her friends and neighbors. Doña Avelina is a very happy woman, enthusiastic and hard-working. She tells us that she began working in her business when she wanted to help her husband with the household expenses and provide a better quality of life to her children. And now she wishes that her business prospers every day in order to help her be able to provide an education to her grandchildren.

She needs this loan to invest in buying pencils, pencil sharpeners, white and color paper, glue, scissors, mats, bond paper, clay, foam, notebooks, laminate, rice, beans, oil, laundry soap, soap, toothpaste, soda pop, candy, coffee, cookies, juices, candles, cream, cheese, tomatoes, chilies, onion, and toilet paper to restock her business. She is very happy for the awarded loan and sends a greeting and many thanks because with this loan her business will prosper.
