A loan of $375 helped to buy metal wholesale.

Elmer's story

Elmer, 21, is single and lives with his mother in his own house. Two years ago his father left him in charge of his metal shop. He also fixes various machines.

He started his job because of economic problems when he was studying civil engineering in a private university. "I wasn't able to pay my expenses any longer," he said. Elmer wasn't daunted, however. On the contrary, he gathered all his strength and began to work in his father's former trade, thus helping his family.

Now he wants to work hard to achieve his goals, so he works without resting from Monday through Saturday, and even Sunday. His goal is to work hard so he can go back to school, which is what he wants most right now.

This is his second Kiva loan and he's grateful to get some financial help to get ahead with his business. He also promises to make his payments punctually.

Elmer will invest the 1,000 soles [PEN] in a variety of metal so he can carry out his work.
