A loan of $800 helped a member to buy fertilizer and pesticides for her farm.

Thy's Group's story

Thy, 41, lives with her husband and three children in a rural village of the Dambae district in Cambodia. To feed the family, Thy and her husband earn a living as farmers, and they have been growing rice and cassava for 20 years, earning about 19,000 KHR per day to spend on the family’s needs. This is Thy’s group loan with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, and her group has only three members, all of whom live in the same village. She is leading her group to apply for a loan. She is going to use her portion of the loan to buy fertilizer and pesticides for her farmland. She hopes to increase her crop yields so as to generate more income and improve her standard of living.
