A loan helped to cover the entire tuition fee for her daughter to study to become an accountant.

Sorn's story

Sorn, a rural villager from Bati province's Takeo district, is 41 years old and married. She has four children, two of whom are dependent on her and still in school. She has been earning a living by weaving scarves and silk for almost ten years. Sorn is able to save up to US$5 per day from her current business, after deducting the expenses. This is the sixth loan cycle for Sorn with Kiva's partner, VisionFund. The past loans, which she successfully paid back, have helped her better support her family, with enough food. She is applying for an education loan to cover the entire tuition fee for her daughter to study to become an accountant. She very much hopes that this loan will enable her daughter to obtain a higher education background and end up with a good job after graduation in order to support the family.
