María Delfina's story

María is applying for her third loan with her friends and colleagues of the Yanaturo Alto communal bank. She likes this type of loan as it is gives them the opportunities to strengthen her friendships with all of her colleagues. At the same time, the loans enable them to improve their financial stability. She lives in the outskirts of the city of Cuenca, a city that is renowned for nature. The city is the birthplace of great artists and craftsmen, and the people still maintain their town's culture and traditions.

María is 39 years old, she is married and from her marriage she had five children aged 21,19, 13, 8 and 7 years old. Her eldest son is studying at university, her second daughter is married and lives independently, her third son is studying at college and her two youngest children are studying at a school in the city. Her husband works as a private employee. They do not have their own home which is why they are renting.

María takes care of the household chores and has been working for the last six years from Monday to Friday as a private sector employee. She also rears chicken for a living. These activities allow her to contribute to the household's finances.

She will invest the money in this loan in the purchase of poultry to grow this business. María's dream is to have her own business such as a restaurant.
