Sonia Eduvina's story

Sonia is a 40-year-old woman. She lives in the city of Pisco with her two small children, who she loves and who are her main reason for living. She is a very friendly, hard-working and enthusiastic person who dedicates all her effort to getting her family ahead, since she has always been her children's father and mother.

Regrettably, due to a lack of financial resources and the need to work from a very young age, Sonia was unable to study the professional degree in Fashion Design that she wanted to pursue. In her free time, she likes to play with her children and on some occasions she cooks a delicious "Carapulcra con Sopa Seca" (A Peruvian meat, potato and noodle dish) to spoil them.

Sonia works in her small store on her own initiative and with much determination and dedication, selling candy, drinks and some groceries. She works every day beginning in the early hours of the morning and she can do so for approximately 10 hours. Sonia enjoys working and believes that it is going well for her because of her good prices and the friendly treatment she offers to others.

Sonia is very thankful to the Kiva lenders since, thanks to the help they offer her, she will be able to buy a larger quantity and variety of groceries, drinks, and clothing items to be sold. This way, Sonia will have her business better-stocked and she will be able to attend to more clients. Thus, she will continue working and striving to achieve her great dream of seeing her children become good professionals.
