A loan of $2,400 helped a member to buy beauty products.

Mujeres Emprendedoras De Ventanilla Alta Group's story

This is the communal bank Mujeres Emprendedoras De Ventanilla Alta [Women entrepreneurs of Ventanilla Alta] One of the members is María Margarita who is 54 years old and has 6 adult children. She works to support the youngest of her children who is 16. Her friends encouraged her to set up in business selling beauty products and she sells to her friends, neighbours and occasionally other people. She has been selling for a year now and it is going well. She also makes sweets to sell. She will use the loan to buy more beauty products such as perfumes, creams and make-up to offer her customers. María Margarita is happy in the group and in the future she would like to have a place where she can run her business so that she doesn't have to go out in the streets looking for customers, since it is very risky. In the photograph she is the third from the left, in the purple jacket.
