A loan of $375 helped to purchase nursery plants and replace unsuccessful plants.

Justiniano's story

Justiniano is 52 years old, is divorced, and has a 17 year old son who lives with him at his home constructed of wood. Justiniano makes his living in agriculture and operates with the help of workers from the area that are constantly performing agricultural activities. At the start of a new season of taking care of the land, he hopes to be able to replant his cocoa plantations by finding the unproductive plants which lack the ability to continue to produce. This is why he plans to make the purchase of nursery plants for grafting and thus carry out a technical maintenance of his cocoa trees. He will be doing this activity on the 3 acres he owns as well as providing comprehensive maintenance to his other plants by hiring workers who have experience in this sector. This is his first loan with Kiva and he is grateful to receive financial support that helps him to move forward, and he promises to make his payments on time. On this occasion he wishes to use 1,000 nuevos soles to purchase seedling plants and replace cocoa trees that are not producing with the help of workers from the area.
