A loan of $1,400 helped to buy merchandise for his business.

Jose Manuel's story

José Manúel is originally from the city of Piedras Negras, where he has lived for 64 years, practically his entire life. He is married and his sons are adults and have their own families. He only has one single son who lives alone. José Manúel lives with his wife and had a job as a teacher in different educational institutions for many years. Now he is retired and makes a living selling groceries, a business he has in his own home. He also sells land which he owns outside of Piedras Negras.

He asks for help through Kiva to buy more merchandise for his business, which he attends together with his spouse. He hopes to increase his sales a little more and to generate more income so that in the future he can expand the business, enlarge the space where he has the grocery store, and then leave the business to his children.
