Ainagul's story

Ainagul is 52 yeas old, married, and has two children. She has a higher education, and for a long time she worked as a high school teacher. Today, she and her husband are retired, but they don't just sit around the house, rather they run their own small farm. This is a business that Ainagul started in 1985 to be a source of income for her family. She started the business with 2,000 som (KGS), but the good relationships that the family members have among themselves have allowed them to be successful. Today her farm brings in a monthly profit of 10,000 som (KGS). Ainagul has one milk cow and ten sheep. She also has 1.2 hectares of land where she mainly grows beans and peppers.

To further develop her business, Ainagul applied to the microfinance bank Bai Tushum & Partners for a loan of 50,000 som (KGS) to buy cows. Ainagul plans to use the profits from the loan to increase the size of her herd of cattle and she intends to spend some money on repairing her home.
