A loan of $275 helped to buy wood and bristles to make brooms.

Ruthuer's story

Ruthuer, 39, is married to Bamner who is a shopkeeper and the father of her 3 children ages 21, 18 and 13 whom all live with them in their own house.

Ruthuer makes and sells brooms. She has a small workshop in her house where she has 2 machines for cutting wood and cutting bristles. She then assembles them making a good product. All her products are sold in bulk to retailers at nearby markets where she fulfills her orders. She began more than 15 years ago with her own funds, together with her husband, who helps her to make and sell the products and sometimes helps her take care of her youngest child.

Before starting her business, she had economic problems since she didn't have a trade or constant income causing the finance in her house difficult. Now seeing the good results that she continues to have, she wants to continue because it's her only source of income.

This is her first loan with Kiva and she is thankful for the financial support she is receiving to continue ahead. In addition, she promises to pay her monthly payments on time. With the amount asked, 700 Peruvian Soles, she will buy materials such as wood and bristles at wholesale to make brooms.
