A loan of $375 helped to purchase second-hand clothing.

Nelly's story

Nelly is 34 years old and has three children, ages 14, 6 and 2, with her husband Salmón. They live together in their own home. Nelly makes a living selling second-hand clothing for men, women and children. She acquires all of these products at the city's commercial center, and sells the items by travelling to the surrounding towns located on the riverbanks. She takes her trips and doesn't stop until she sells all of her merchandise, no matter the time. She started the business six years ago, investing her own savings out of the need to find a source of income to provide for her children. She considers it a lucrative business thanks to the good profits she makes, and she sells her products at affordable prices. This is her first loan with Kiva and she feels grateful for the financial support she is receiving that will allow her to make headway with her business, and she promises to make her payments on time. With the loan, she plans to purchase second-hand clothing for men, women and children so she has a stock of clothes ready to sell.
