A loan of $200 helped to buy fish at wholesale.

Lita's story

Lita is 33 and married to Arquímedes who is a laborer and father of their two children ages 14 and 8, with whom she lives in their own house. She sells fresh fish that she buys in the early mornings at the nearest port and takes to her stand in the local market. There she serves her customers very well, providing them with the best fresh specimens.

She started more than five years ago as a helper on the fish boats in the local port, then with her own working capital she decided to start her own business selling fish. Before starting her business, her income as a helper was not enough for the household expenses. Seeing this problem, she decided to make a change. Now she sees that she continues having good results and plans to expand her business and ship her product to other cities in greater quantity.

This is her first loan with Kiva and she feels grateful for the financial help she is receiving so that she can succeed. In addition, she promises to make her installment payments on time. With the amount requested of 500 nuevos soles, she will buy fish at wholesale to send to other cities where they require these products.
