A loan of $675 helped to buy meat and soda to serve her selected clientele.

Ruth Marina's story

Ruth is a 47-year old woman who lives in the warm municipality of Sabanagrande, a village by the shore of Gran Río Magdalena (main river in Colombia), in the department of Atlántico. She lives with her husband and their three children: two boys aged 24 and 27, and one girl who is 21 years old. She works selling beef meat, sodas and phone calls by minutes. She started this business 10 years ago, thanks to her husband's initiative, who works in a slaughterhouse and brought meat for her to sell. She works Monday through Sunday from 7am to 8pm, buying in cash and selling on credit or in cash to neighbors, family and friends. This is her first loan with Kiva through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. She will use the requested amount to buy meat and soda to serve her selected clientele. She hopes to improve her quality of life and to make improvements her store in the near future.
