A loan of $575 helped to buy clothes and shoes for men and women.

Maria Del Rosario's story

María is a 44-year old woman who lives in the municipality of Sabanagrande, a village by the shore of Gran Río Magdalena (main river in Colombia), in the department of Atlántico. She lives with her husband and their four children: three boys aged 18, 22 and 24, and one girl who is 26 years old. She works selling shoes, women blouses and clothes for men and women, Monday through Sunday from 8am to 8pm. She buys in cash in the market located downtown Barranquilla (capital of the department of Atlántico) and sells on credit to neighbors, family and friends. She started the business three years ago with an aim to find an additional income source for her family. She started with a small capital selling shoes and then added the clothing sale.

This is her first loan with Kiva through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. She will use the requested amount to buy clothes and shoes for men and women, so that she can increase her stock. She dreams of having her own store and hopes to improve her quality of life.
