A loan of $550 helped to buy laminated wood, blades and paint.

Melita's story

Melita is a 39-year old woman who is married to Francisco and has three children, aged 18, 5 and 3 years old. They all live together in their own house. Melita works making ice cream sticks and her supplier brings weekly the materials she needs, such as laminated wood, paint and others. She makes the sticks to be used for ice cream manually one by one. Others are painted for decorative and educational purposes. When she has a certain amount of sticks, she sends them in bags to other cities and receives the corresponding payment. She has been working in this business for two years and counts on her sister's help. Sometimes she also sells food products and beverages that are sent to localities by the river shores. She likes her business as it allows her to have income to cover household expenses and feels happy to see it grow thanks to her hard work. She is requesting 1,500 PEN and feels grateful for the financial support received. She will use this amount to buy the necessary materials, such as laminated wood, blades and paint, and commits to repaying as scheduled.
