A loan of $375 helped a member to pay for farm inputs and plowing for planting crops.

Filiton Ii Group's story

The group "FILITON II" is composed of eight married women, who average 33 years of age and 3 children each, all living in polygamous families in ZAMBOUROULA, a village in BOUGOUNI (3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The women are collaborating with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso to carry out their rainy season farm work. They are on their ninth loan with the institution. The past loans were indeed paid back.

Peanuts is the crop grown by MINATA, who is the second woman standing from the left. With her loan, she intends to purchase seeds to make use of 1 hectare.

After the harvest, the produce is sold to men and women customers in the village, at the market. She plans on making a profit of 45,000 francs CFA per planting. The profit will enable her to pay back the loan and help her husband to cover the day-to-day expenses of their household.
