A loan of $2,425 helped a member to pay for farm inputs and plowing for planting crops.

Sinignessigui Group's story

The group "SINIGNESSIGUI" is composed of eight married men averaging 48 years of age and four children each, all living in polygamous families in DIOUTIEBOUGOU, a village in BOUGOUNI (3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The men are collaborating with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso to carry out their rainy season farm work. They are on their fourth loan with the institution. The past loan was indeed paid back.

Corn is the crop grown by BROULAYE, who is standing second from the left in the photo. With his loan, he intends to purchase farm inputs and seeds and to pay for plowing to make use of 3 hectares.

After the harvest, the produce is sold to men and women customers in the city of BOUGOUNI. He plans on making a profit of 275,000 francs CFA per planting. The profit will enable him to pay back the loan and help cover the day-to-day expenses of their household.
