A loan of $5,600 helped to pay for advertising.

Andrew's story

Andrew is a lifelong lover of the martial arts. He began training at the age of eight in New Jersey. “It was love at first sight. I knew from the get go that this was what I wanted to do with my life,” explains Andrew. He has taken a total of seven black belt tests. Before opening his business, he taught for some time under other instructors and had a decent following. Inspired by his popularity, he decided to start his own business when he was 19.

Andrew's Martial Arts and Fitness Center offers Kick Boxing, Tae Kwon Do, and Tang Soo Do classes, all taught by Andrew himself (with the assistance of some of his more advanced students). He is also currently a student, becoming accredited to teach courses about self-esteem and psychology, which will help bring new students into his “martial arts family.”

“I think martial arts is a tool to teach the bigger and greater things in life, and that’s a success in and of itself,” explains Andrew in response to what his greatest success as a small business owner is.

Currently, Andrew is redoing and expanding his wellness program, which includes both new and traditional techniques to help people become healthier in both mind and spirit. He works with schools and businesses. This loan will help with advertising in order to get the word out about this program. Andrew also aspires to open a second center in the next few years.
