A loan of $1,200 helped to buy soil amendments and fertilizer.

Maria Jubencia's story

María Jubencia, 42, completed elementary school through the fourth grade. She and her husband work in agriculture growing potatoes. She has a very large family made up of six children, three of whom work in farming activities with their parents while the other three attend school. She has a lot of experience, more than eight years working in this job; she learned it from her parents, who have always been farmers.

They acquired the land they currently farm through an inheritance from her in-laws. Like everything in life they have faced certain challenges, such as the decline in prices in the market and climactic changes (the rains).

Her customers are intermediaries who arrive in the area looking for a good, clean, and quality product. Sometimes she also sells her crop in the market in the area where she lives.

Currently she's requesting a loan from COMIXMUL to buy fertilizer, soil amendments, and other products to take care of her crops.

Her plans and goals as a mother are to continue growing and to buy more land so her children have land to work. Her dream is to see her children have a better status in life with better opportunities, and for them to be better every day that goes by studying in the university.
