Augustus T.'s story

Augustus T. is 54 years old and lives in Bardnersville, one of the early communities in Liberia that is well-known. He is married and has four children between the ages of 8 and 28; only two are presently in school and live at home. He is a high school graduate and obtained a certificate in medicine.

Since 2006, he has been running a medicine store where he sells quinine, paracetamol, cough syrup, blood tonic, etc. He started this business with $500 USD, which he saved when he was working at a hospital as physician assistant. With this little money, he managed to establish his business and learned this ways of selling from his father. He is very happy with his business because he makes a profit and it keeps him busy. Most interestingly, he learned different kinds of local languages.

He is requesting a loan to buy more quinine, paracetamol, cough syrup, blood tonic, etc., for his business. His plans are to expand his business and educate his children.
