Maa Tarini Self Help Group's story

Maa Tarini Self Help Group has ten members who are all from the same neighbourhood. The president of this group is Bharati. Bharati is a 28-year-old married woman from the Khurda district of Odisha, India. The couple has two children who are in schooling. Bharati lives with her children and, together with her husband, takes care of all the household expenses.

For the past five years, Bharati has been involved in the activity of growing and selling vegetables; her husband and her parents help her in this activity. All other members of this group are engaged in other different kinds of activities like agriculture, cattle farming, etc.

In order to strengthen the business and respond to customer demand, Bharati, together with her group Maa Tarini Self Help Group, has requested a loan amount of 140,000 INR for purchasing seeds, fertilizers and pesticides. Their goal is to expand their business activity.
