A loan of $1,450 helped to purchase brick, cement and metal to improve her tenants' bathrooms.

Macedonia's story

Macedonia, 39, is a single mother of 3 children, whom she lives with in her own house. When she was young she worked in agriculture, which helped her become independent and start out with her partner and and first child in search of increasing their family finances. As years went by, she decided to change business and began buying and selling wood blocks wholesale. She received economic support from her parents to make her first purchases and managed to recuperate the investment on her first sale to wood dealers in the capital. It was thanks to this that she was able to meet one of her first goals and construct her home out of fine materials, later adding a second floor.

After her separation, she continued her business independently and managed to support her young children alone. Having various areas in her house that were not in use she decided to rent them out. Her first tenants were very responsible with their payments, which allowed her to meet other economic needs with the income. In time she hopes to continue expanding more areas of her house to rent, so she is taking into account that the construction of the third floor of her home needs to be finished. She's trying to have a monthly income with time.

This is her third loan with Kiva and she feels grateful for the financial support that she receives to continue on. She promises prompt payment on her installments. On this occasion she would like to have 4,000 nuevos soles and purchase brick, cement and metal to improve the bathrooms in her tenants rooms.
