A loan of $1,425 helped to buy certified potato seeds, manure and fertilizer for her crops.

Maria Vicenta's story

Maria Vicenta is 30 years old, married, and has 2 children who study at the local elementary school. She lives with her husband and children. She is an agricultural worker and has been doing this work for a long time, ever since her father taught her to work the land, sowing and harvesting potatoes when she was very young. Together with her husband, she grows corn and beans. She has her own land, thanks to an inheritance that her mother left her. Her land is a 15 minute walk from her house. Her clients are the people who live in the area and they work as intermediaries who sell the products at other markets.

She has requested a loan from COMIXMUL communal bank with which she plans to buy certified potato seeds, manure, and fertilizers to protect and safeguard her crops.

Her future plans are to produce higher quantities of crops so that she can offer her clients a higher volume and be able to supply a market that she cannot provide for right now. Her dreams as a mother are to be able to pay for her children’s education and send them to a university where they can fulfill their potential in the future.
