Benkadi Group's story

The group Benkadi is composed of married women, who average 33 years of age and four children each, all living in traditional extended families in Dioïla, in the Tripano district, Commune de Dioila, Préfecture de Dioila, Région de Koulikoro (2nd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The women know one another through ties of kinship, community, and friendship. They essentially do commerce in condiments and clothing.

The women of the group Benkadi are on their first solidarity loan, which will be used to purchase their merchandise.

This client, Sali, who is standing at the right in the photo, intends to purchase 50 kg of onions, 10 kg of garlic, and 25 kg of salt. The purchases are made each week at the market. These products will be sold retail with the aim of making a weekly profit of 7,500 francs CFA. This profit will be used for certain family expenses and to make the loan payments.
