Dembagnouma Ii Group's story

The ten members of "DEMBAGNOUMA II" are married women, who average 29 years of age and three children each. The women live for the most part in polygamous families in Solomanibougou, a village in Dioïla, Région de Koulikoro (2nd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). They are collaborating with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso with the goal of better organizing their work at the start of the rainy season. The crops grown are peanuts and millet. They are on their fourth loan with the institution. With this loan, Fatoumata, who is the second person sitting from the right in the photo, intends to purchase farm inputs and sundry equipment and to pay for plowing to maintain about 1.5 hectares of millet and peanuts. After the harvest, the produce will be sold to men and women customers in Marka Coungo City. She earns about 145,000 francs CFA in profit per planting.
