Benkadi I Group's story

The members of the group Benkadi I are all married women who are on average 30 years old and have on average 3 children. Most of them live in polygamous families in Massoukou, one of the villages in Dioila prefecture, Koulikoro region, 2nd administrative region of Mali.

They collaborate with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso with the aim of being able to better organize their businesses in the beginning of winter. The crops grown are groundnuts and mil [African cereal]. They are on their fourth collaboration with the institution.

With this loan Massara, the first person on the left in the row of people standing, plans to buy inputs, small equipment and pay the labor fees to maintain about 1 hectare of mil and groundnuts.

After the harvest the produce is sold in the city of Marka Coungo to a clientele composed of men and women. She envisions making a profit of about 95,000 FCFA per planting.
