Angélica Virginia's story

The Republic of Ecuador Communal Bank meets every 15 days in the city of Manta. Manta is known for its beautiful beaches that are highly visited throughout the year and for being a beautiful city without equal, with many tourist attractions. Angélica lives in this city. She is 33 years old and she lives in a common law marriage from which she has three children who are 9, 4 and 3 years old. The two older children study in school and kindergarten. Her husband is a security guard. Angélica works selling products from Avon and Belcorp (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes and accessories for women). Her method of sales is door to door. She works every day, mostly in the morning hours because those hours are the easiest for her routes because her children are in school. She only has to bring the youngest child with her. She sells on credit and is paid on a weekly basis. She has been doing this work for 6 years. With her earnings she can pay for certain expenses for the schooling of her children that her husband cannot afford based on his earnings. She will use this loan to buy perfumes, costume jewelry, cosmetics and creams. She has been in the Communal Bank for 2 years and she likes it because of the help the loans provide her. Her dream is to improve the lives of her children.
