A loan of $725 helped to purchase fishing materials.

Roger's story

Roger is a 48 year old man, living in the city of Pucallpa with his spouse and his two children, whom he loves and sees as his main reason for living. He is a friendly, hard-working, and enthusiastic person, who together with his spouse devotes all of his efforts to improving life for his family. Regrettably, because of a lack of economic resources and the need to work from a young age to help his parents, Roger could not finish secondary school, which made it impossible for him to pursue a professional degree. In his free time, he likes to mend his nets.

On his own initiative, with much determination and dedication, Roger works as a traditional fisherman. He has a small boat where he does his work. As well, he builds wooden houses. Roger works every day from the early hours of the morning, and often continues for about 12 hours. He enjoys his work and feels that it is a good fit for his desire to improve his life and the friendly way he treats others.

Roger is very grateful for Kiva's small loans, as thanks to the help provided he will be able to purchase materials such as fishing nets, fishing line, ropes, and more. This way, Roger can continue mending his nets to be able to fish, and continue working and pushing himself to achieve his great dream of having a secure home that is well-constructed with solid materials that ensure the wellbeing of his family.
