A loan of $1,425 helped to purchase agricultural inputs for her coffee crops.

Ada Marlen's story

Ada is 32 years old, a homemaker, coffee grower, businesswoman, and mother of one minor child. In company with her partner, she works every day to get ahead in life. She has a university degree, graduating as a specialist in pedagogy, thanks to the financial support provided by her family. For more than 8 years she has dedicated herself to growing coffee, which she learned together with her partner. The land they cultivate together was an inheritance from her parents.

She has requested financial support from the COMIXMUL cooperative in order to purchase agricultural inputs that help protect her coffee plants from coffee rust, coffee borer beetles, and other pests and diseases that damage the harvest.

Her future plans are to cultivate a wider variety of coffee, with which she can better compete in the market to improve her quality of life, and to one day be able to export outside the country as a quality product. Her dream for her business and her family is to achieve better production, as she has said, and to be able to complete her son's education to the highest level, such as university.
