A loan of $2,125 helped a member to open another fruit and vegetable business in a different area.

Mwandege Mbagara Group's story

Fatuma, who is her early 40s, is single with her own five children. Three are in school, while the other two are finished with school and independent. For seven years now, Fatuma has been managing her family by running genge (grocery) business selling fruit, vegetables, onions, tomatoes, and other food related items. She works from 7 am to 9 pm daily, and is able to make a fair profit each month. This will be her fifth loan request from Tujijenge Tanzania. With the previous loans, all of which paid back successfully, she bought more genge/grocery items which she sold. Fatuma's business profit was used to cover her children's school expenses and household expenses. She will use this loan to open another fruit and vegetable business in a different area. She dreams that one day she will be able to build a house and expand her genge/grocery business. She will share this loan with her loan group " MWANDEGE MBAGARA", which totals 10 members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
