A loan of $1,175 helped to buy retail stock items for sell.

Swayifi's story

Swayifi is a 30-year-old man who lives in the outskirts of the main town. He has two children whom he takes care of along with one other person who is the sister of his wife.

Swayifi is a shopkeeper who has a retail business selling daily use items such as sugar, salt, posho, etc.

He also does some agricultural work on his farm where he produces food for home consumption; he does some cattle farming on the same land.

Swayifi says he managed to use the previous loan to put up his own structure where he has his shop. Through this, he has managed to save money that would have been used for other expenses.

Swayifi started the shop six years back to improve his household income.

He says that he intends to use the loan to buy more stock for his shop so as to attract more clients who keep asking for items that he has not stocked.

Swayifi commends Ugafode for helping him acquire land that he has so far used to cultivate seasonal crops such as beans and groundnuts. This has helped him boost his income.
