A loan of $3,475 helped a member to buy larger pots.

Nueva Esperanza Group's story

The "Nueva Esperanza" ("New Hope") group is a group made up of hard-working and entrepreneurial members who fight day after day to improve their families' economic situation. Maria is 58 years old and lives with her partner. All of her children are independent. In the group, she carries out the function of president, and was elected by the members. For three years, Maria has been preparing food to offer to construction workers and the general public. On Sundays she makes tamales to offer to her neighbors. For many years she has participated in the community kitchen in the area where she lives. She will use the loan to buy larger pots. Her biggest dreams are to buy a sandwich cart and to finish building her house. The group thanks the Kiva lenders for the loan provided. Maria is the first one on the right side.
