A loan of $1,025 helped to buy cereals.

Lassine's story

Mr Lassine was born in 1975 in Bamako. He lives in a nuclear family with his wife and children in Noumousso, a neighborhood in Kadiolo (third administrative region of Mali).

He's been buying and selling cereals for more than ten years. His experience in this field earned him a good reputation, and he receives lots of orders from various customers.

In order to have the resources required to satisfy his customers, he works with Kiva's partner, the MFI Soro Yiriwaso, from which he is seeking his ninth loan. All previous loans were repaid without problems.

This new loan will enable him to buy approximately 50 sacks of cereals (50 kg each) such as millet, corn, sorghum, and fonio. He gest his supplies in Kadiolo, as well as in the surrounding villages, such as Zégoua.

He sells in Kadiolo. Cereals are stocked in his store in Kadiolo for a good amount of time. His clientele is made up of men and women from the village.

Thanks to this loan, he foresees turning an average monthly profit of XOF 150'000 (ca US$ 300), which will enable him to repay the loan. The remainder will be reinvested in his business.

He intends to become a wholesaler in order to meet an ever-increasing customer demand.
