Wilson lives in Nkubu area of Eastern Kenya,a very fertile area for agriculture production. He is married and has four children. He has practiced farming for 25 years. His main source of income is milk, bananas and tea, which he sells in the local market.
He has requested a loan of.42,000 KES for purchasing a dairy cow which will increase milk production. Dairy farming is a very marketable area and thus his income base will increase due to increase in production. This loan will help him to improve his family's living standards. His major challenge is lack of a good market for his products. In five years time, he wants to specialize in dairy farming.
Wilson says that Juhudi Kilimo has affordable interest rates for small scale farmers.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
