A loan of $1,550 helped to buy cows.

Erna's story

Erna is 32 years old, married, and two children (two sons). She has a college degree. From 2011, she has been growing farm produce and raising livestock, having launched this business from a starting capital of 25,000 KGS. She has been able to expand her livestock and produce business. At present, she has three diary cows, 20 sheep and four goats as well as 2.1 ha [about 5 acres] of land, where she grows beans every year. Her husband helps her in her business. In order to develop her farming business further, Erna has applied to the “Bai Tushum and Partners” microfinance institution for a loan in the amount of 75,000 KGS to buy cows. Erna plans to use the resulting revenues to increase her livestock headcount, and in the future she would like to improve her family’s life conditions and ensure a proper education for her children.
