Gulnara's story

Gulnara is 49 years old, married, and a mother to four children--two sons and two daughters. Her spouse and children help her with her farm. Gulnara has worked with livestock and in agriculture since 2004, having started her business with 20,000 KGS. Her monthly profits are 8,000 KGS. To date she has been able to expand her farming activities, she has her own plot of land (2.80 hectares) where she grows peppers, corn and cabbage. She also has two dairy cows, two calves and 250 sheep. With the goal of further developing her farming, Gulnara turned to the microfinance bank Bai Tushuma and Partners for a loan of 50,000 KGS to buy a calf and fertilizer. She plans to use the income from the loan to increase her herd of cattle and improve her family's well-being.
