A loan of $875 helped to buy feed and medicine for the chickens.

Ana Delicia's story

The Divino Niño de Tohalla communal bank meets every 15 days in the Montecristi canton. The place is known for its rich pre-colonial culture and its handicrafts, which are renowned on a national and international level. This place is known for the famous straw hats.

Ana, age 61, lives in this place. She is in a common-law marriage. She had 14 children, but four of them died. The ten that she still has are now adults. Two of them still live in her house. Her husband is a farmer.

With the intention of earning something on her own, Ana raises poultry. She has a small farm. Seasonally she has between 100 and 200 chickens. She raises them for two to three months, which is the time for them to be ready for sale. She then sells them to merchants who come to her house, or she goes to the city to sell them with the help of one of her children. Thanks to this, they get ahead because her husband does not earn much with his field work.

This loan is to buy feed and medicine for the chickens. She has been in the communal bank since it started. She is very happy because they have helped her a lot with the loans. Her dream is for her and her loved ones to be healthy.
