A loan of $1,350 helped to buy manure, foliar insecticides, and coffee-growing formula for her coffee crop.

Luz Ermelinda's story

Luz Ermelinda is 46 years old and works as a farmer and trader. She is married and has a son who is a taxi driver. She finished elementary school thanks to the financial support from her parents who also taught her how to work from a very young age, in particular, teaching her how to grow coffee. She and her partner have been growing coffee for more than 10 years. She also has a business selling plastic goods including bowls, cups, plates, etc. which she sells at the local market to people shopping there. Her coffee plantation is located 3 kilometers away from her home.

Luz Ermelinda is requesting financial support from COMIXMUL to invest in the purchase of foliar insecticides, manure, coffee-growing formula, etc. to ensure that her crops do not get damaged by coffee rust, berry borers or other diseases and parasites that affect the final product

Her future plans include diversifying her crop in order to make her produce more competitive and attractive on the market and to be able to offer a wider variety to the different customers and consumers who arrive to the area looking for good quality.
