Sophorn is a mother of two schoolchildren who lives in the Srey Snom district of the Siem Reap province. She is 29 years old and her main source of income comes from rice cultivation, which she has been involved in for several years.
This is not the first micro-loan for Sophorn with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has successfully repaid her loan and has utilized it wisely to improve her standard of living so it is better than before.
For this cycle, Sophorn is seeking a new loan to buy rice seeds, fertilizers and insecticides for her farmland. She hopes that she can gain a high yield to earn more income.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
