A loan of $4,800 helped a member purchase used furniture.

Piedras Blancas Group's story

The Piedras Blancas communal bank started its third loan cycle with Kiva partner Pro Mujer as part of the Primary Focus of German Busch. It is formed of 11 members and is led by a board of directors, for which Yanety is the secretary. The members' businesses are succeeding and are varied, including selling milk, selling cheese, weaving blankets, and selling used furniture.

The loan they will take out will benefit small micro-businesses, of which Yanety is a member. She indicates that it has been a year since she started with Pro Mujer, joining at the invitation of a friend who is a member of the institution. Now she has a business selling used furniture. She says she learned this business with her family's guidance because they repair discarded furniture.

The loan she is now taking out is to stock up on merchandise (purchase used furniture), which she will acquire from homes and later, after fixing it up, will sell in her sales space. This type of work allows her to generate income to maintain her home because she still lives with her mother.

When she was asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she said that she likes to work with the group and her friends.
