A loan of $725 helped to buy fruits and vegetables to make her soft drinks and food.

Jivia's story

Jivia is a 37-year-old woman. As a single mother, she cares for her 4 children, all of them minors, with a lot of love in her own house made of rustic materials. Starting very early every morning, she goes to the regional foods stall she has at the edge of the bridge, where for 8 years she has sold her different products as well as fresh fruit-based soft drinks. She says that on Saturdays and Sundays she earns a good income. Her greatest ambition is to be able to improve her business in order to earn more money that will allow her to cover her children's expenses, since the child support she receives from her ex-husband is not enough to be able to give them a good education. Thus her mission is now hard work. This is her second loan with Kiva, and she feels grateful for the financial support that she receives to move ahead. She also promises to make her loan repayments on time. Jivia will use the 2000 soles to buy fruits such as oranges and mandarins, among others, and vegetables to make her soft drinks and food.
